When Kanisa merged with ServiceWare they decided to change the name of both companies to something completely new, “KNOVA”. They than gave the task of designing the new logo to both the ServiceWare internal designer and myself. From the time we find out the new name to the date of a trade show, which needed all new signage and marketing materials, was three weeks.
I extended a portion of the K and highlighted it in a different color in an effort to show an arrow, implying moment and forward direction for the company. The K is also silent, like in knowledge, and in highlighting it I thought it helped the “NOVA” section to stand out more thus aiding in pronouncing the name correctly.
