Central New York Retail Lumber District Association
The New York Retail Lumber Dealers Association (NRLDA) approached the design alumni group of The College of St. Rose, asking if anyone would be willing to do this as a pro-bono project. I was new to freelancing and was looking for more portfolio work. I was assigned the Central New York region, which located mostly in and around Syracuse, NY. The current logo is a clip art of the state tree, Sugar Maple, over the full text and they wanted a more updated logo.
Using just the abbreviated letters the Y stood out to me as being the trunk of a tree. I thought a softer look and feel would help bring a more of an environmentally friendly feel to the association.
